Bob retired in 1998 and started a business, "The Ole General Store" in the historic Flynt Mercantile in Geneva.

Since Bob, Diane and sons moved to Geneva, he has been involved in many areas of the rural lifestyle and has loved every minute of his many volunteer hours.  Some of his volunteer positions include PTA President, Cubmaster, Scoutmaster, Little League Coach, Methodist Church Board of Directors, Geneva Cemetery Association Board of Directors, Geneva Citizens Association Board of Directors, and a member of the Seminole County Historical Commission.  Bob is also a Founding Member of the Geneva Rural Heritage center.

Bob's hobbies are woodworking, sawmilling, visiting grandchildren, and volunteering.  "Geneva has been such a wonderful place to live and I like the old ways sometimes better than the current ways. I feel that the Rural Heritage center is a wonderful place for the communities to gather for activities and a learning experience that only the Rural areas can provide."

Gail Morris

Gail MorrisGail Morris came to Sanford in 1963 when the Navy moved her family here.  Since she grew up in Sanford, she always thought Geneva and Oviedo were "the sticks".  She married her husband, Rick, who was a local Geneva boy and moved to Geneva about 15 years ago and says she wouldn’t live anywhere else.

She and her husband Rick own a local roofing company serving Seminole and Orange counties.
.
Gail and Rick are founding members of BrenDon Squares the square dance club that calls the Rural Heritage Center home.  That’s how she became involved in the Center.  She has served on the Board of Directors for two terms and is committed to the continual restoration and maintenance of our landmark.  She sees the Rural Heritage Center as a link to the past and a bridge to the future of our rural area.

Imogene Yarborough

Imogene YarboroughImogene Yarborough and her late hustband, Ed, started ranching in Seminole County in 1954 on 8,000 acres, land that had been in Ed's family for generations.  They called the place Yarborough Ranch and spent 46 years raising cattle and 4 children there.

Imogene was on the Florida Cattlewomen’s Board of Directors for 12 years, and in 1984 she was elected president. Imogene has long been a member of the National Cattlewomen’s Association and has been active in planning and organizing the National Beef Cook-off.  Teaching is a passion for Imogene, and she educates young people about agriculture through 4-H, the Girl Scouts, Junior Cattlemen, and Ag in the Classroom.  She helped organize the Great Florida Cattle Drive of 1995, which celebrated Florida’s 150th year of statehood and its ranching heritage.  In 1995 the Girl Scouts of Citrus Council named her a Woman of Distinction in Lifetime Achievement.

Imogene is a founding member of the Rural Heritage Center but is also a founding member of the Florida Agricultural Museum and is active in the Geneva Historical Society.  The Rural Heritage Center is lucky to have Imogene in its corner.
