Rural community remains close-knit and neighborly

A school bell rings, sending a herd of excited children pouring out of Geneva Elementary. A woman on horseback saunters down the side of the road as leaves fall from a maple tree across from a tall, white church.

It could be a scene from the fictional town of Mayberry — a place where everyone knows every resident and life is simple.

But this is no TV production set: It’s the Seminole County village of Geneva, where visitors can catch a glimpse of old Florida.
